9-Day Leh Ladakh Trip

Start your experience with a Leh Ladakh Jeep Safari. Every turn in the road will show you breathtaking views. When you arrive in Leh, the main town in Ladakh, you will feel the fresh mountain air and see the rich mix of Tibetan and Ladakhi cultures.

The journey starts with visits to Thiksey Monastery and Hemis Monastery. Here, you can hear ancient Buddhist chants and see monks in maroon robes performing their rituals. Next, we drive to Khardung La Pass, which is 5,359 meters high and one of the highest motorable roads in the world. This takes us into the beautiful Nubra Valley. In Nubra Valley, you can see the Hunder Sand Dunes, popular for double-humped Bactrian camels.

The next phase of our journey takes us to the stunning Pangong Lake, situated at an elevation of 4,350 meters. This body of water presents an array of captivating, ever-changing hues, rendering it a visual treasure for photographers and nature enthusiasts. Nevertheless, our expedition does not conclude here. We will continue to the remote village of Hanle, located at an altitude of 4,500 meters, home to one of the world’s highest astronomical observatories.

No Ladakh Jeep Safari is complete without driving over Umling La Pass (5,882 m), the highest motorable road in the world. This exciting ride takes you through dry landscapes and high passes. It is both thrilling and rewarding, making it a must-experience for adventure lovers. After that, we head to the beautiful Tso Moriri Lake (4,522 m). The rugged mountains reflect on the calm water, creating a stunning, picture-perfect view.

Day 01 :

Arrive Leh

As your plane gets closer to Ladakh, the stunning landscapes come into view. When you arrive, take your time to adjust to the high altitude.

Check into your hotel and sip a warm cup of tea while enjoying the mountain views. In the evening visit the lively markets of Leh. Overnight Hotel in Leh.

Day 02 :

Sightseeing around Leh

Today, we will visit Thiksey Monastery. This impressive building resembles the Potala Palace in Tibet. It is home to the large 40-foot-tall Maitreya Buddha statue. As you take in the sight, monks will chant ancient prayers.

Next, we will visit Hemis Monastery, Ladakh's biggest and richest monastery. You can see a museum that displays old Buddhist artifacts. If you visit in June or July, you can enjoy the Hemis Festival, which features masked dances and colorful costumes.

Day 03 :

Leh to Nubra Valley

Distance: Approximately 120 km Duration: 5-6 Hours drive Elevation: 3,500 meters to 3,150 meters

Today, we drive over Khardung La Pass, which is 5,359 meters high and one of the highest motorable roads in the world. The fresh mountain air and the view of the snow-capped peaks make this an exciting journey.

As you travel down to Nubra Valley, you will visit Diskit Monastery. This monastery has a large 32-meter statue of Maitreya Buddha that overlooks the valley. In the evening, you can explore the Hunder Sand Dunes. This area features golden dunes next to snow-capped mountains. You can also enjoy a Bactrian camel safari.

Day 04 :

Nubra to Pangong Lake

Distance: Approximately 162 km Duration: 6-7 hours drive Elevation: 3,150 meters to 4,350 meters

After leaving Nubra, we drive along a pretty road to see Pangong Lake. When we get closer, the clear water of the lake shows beautiful colors like blue and green, making it look amazing.

Walk along the lake's shore during the day. Capture its beauty with your camera or enjoy the calm surroundings. At night, stay in cozy cabins or campsites. Look up to see the Milky Way in the clear Ladakhi sky.

Day 05 :

Pangong to Hanley

Distance: Approximately 200 km Duration: 6-7 hours drive Elevation: 4,350 meters to 4,500 meters

Today, we travel to Hanley, one of Ladakh’s most remote and untouched villages. We will go through rugged mountains and pass small settlements where life has not changed for centuries.

Hanley is home to the Hanley Observatory, one of the highest astronomical observatories in the world.

Day 06 :

Umling La Pass Excursion - World’s Highest Motorable Road

Distance: Approximately 100 km Duration: Full day Elevation: 5882.64 meters

Today, we will drive to Umling La Pass 5,882 meters. This pass is the highest motorable road in the world.

After enjoying the stunning view of the Himalayas, we head back to Hanley. On the way, we stop at the Hanley Observatory to learn about the universe under Ladakh’s clear skies.

Day 07 :

Hanley to Tso Moriri Lake

Distance: Approximately 260 km Duration: 7-8 hours drive Elevation: 4,110 meters to 4,522 meters

Today, we start our drive to Tso Moriri Lake, one of the most remote and beautiful lakes in Ladakh. This high-altitude lake is home to many migratory birds, including the Black-necked Crane.

Tso Moriri has calm blue waters and gree pastures, creating a stunning landscape that ranks among Ladakh’s most beautiful spots. In the evening, enjoy the sunset over the lake while the surrounding peaks glow gold in the fading light.

Day 08 :

Tso Moriri to Leh

Distance: Approximately 220 km Duration: 6-7 hours drive Elevation: 4,522 meters to 3,500 meters

We say goodbye to Tso Moriri as we head back to Leh, passing through Chumathang, which is known for its natural hot springs. Along the way, we enjoy beautiful landscapes that give us one last view of Ladakh's wilderness.

Arrive in Leh, where you can spend your final evening exploring the local markets or unwinding at a cozy Ladakhi cafe.

Day 09 :

Departure

Today on time you will be transferred to Leh airport for your onward journey, taking back wonderful memories from the Leh Ladakh Trip
